October 1st, National Day

Today is October 1st, a very special day in China, because it is National Day. Our family decided to spend this holiday in Beijing.

In the morning, we went to Tiananmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony. The Square was crowded with people from all over the country. The Chinese national flag was slowly raised while the national anthem played. I felt an immense sense of pride and patriotism as I watched the flag fluttering in the wind.

After that, we visited the Forbidden City, the imperial palace of ancient China. It was my first time visiting this historical site, and I was fascinated by the beautiful architecture and intricate details. Walking through the vast courtyards and exploring the various halls and chambers, I couldn't help but imagine what life was like for the emperors and their concubines.

In the afternoon, we went to the Great Wall. The Great Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic symbols of China. As we climbed up the ancient steps and looked out at the breathtaking view, I couldn't help but admire the ingenuity and perseverance of the ancient Chinese people who built this magnificent structure.

In the evening, we watched a fireworks display at a nearby park. The sky was lit up with colorful explosions, creating a beautiful spectacle. The joy and excitement of the crowd were contagious, and I couldn't help but cheer along with everyone else.

Overall, it was a memorable day filled with history, culture, and celebration. I feel grateful to be a part of such a rich and vibrant country. National Day is not just a day off from work or school, but a reminder of the unity and strength of the Chinese people.
