尊敬的班主任、亲爱的同学们：

大家好！今天我们召开这次班会，是为了庆祝即将到来的端午节，并进行交流和发言。我很荣幸能够代表全班发言，借此机会向大家介绍一下关于端午节的历史和传统。

端午节是我国的传统文化节日之一，也被称为龙舟节。每年农历五月初五，人们都会在这一天举行各种庆祝活动。这个节日的起源可以追溯到战国时期，主要是为了纪念我国伟大的爱国诗人屈原。据说，屈原是一个宫廷贤臣，他致力于政治改革和民族复兴，但最终遭到了不公正的冤罪。在被迫流放的途中，屈原于农历五月初五投江自尽，以显示对国家和人民的忠诚。

为了纪念屈原，人们开始在端午节这天举行划龙舟比赛。龙舟是一种独特的古老水上运动工具，外形像龙，因此得名。龙舟比赛既是对屈原的纪念，也是向恶势力和瘟疫驱逐的一种象征。

除了划龙舟比赛，端午节还有其他丰富多彩的活动。最有名的莫过于吃粽子了，粽子是由糯米、豆子、肉和其他馅料填充在芦苇叶或者竹叶包裹而成。无论是甜粽子还是咸粽子，它们都有着独特的风味和时代特色。吃粽子可以说是端午节最重要的传统，也是人们之间交流感情的好方式。

我们还可以看到五彩缤纷的艾草和菖蒲。据说，屈原自杀身亡后，江水中的鱼虾为了避开他的尸体，纷纷上岸，这个时候，人们发现江河里的鱼群爬到河边，便用香草、艾叶等放在门口和屋内，以防止不幸降临。

在这个特殊的日子里，我希望大家能够继承和传承中华优秀的传统文化，加深对端午节的理解和认知。不仅要参与到庆祝活动中去，更要理解其中的历史渊源和文化内涵。我相信，通过学习与了解，我们可以更好地体现出对国家和民族的热爱之情。

Good morning! Today, we are having this class meeting to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival and have exchange and speeches. I am honored to represent our class to speak this time and take this opportunity to introduce the history and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival.

First of all, the Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional cultural festivals in our country, also known as the Duanwu Festival. It falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month each year. On this day, various celebrations are held. The origin of this festival can be traced back to the Warring States period, mainly to commemorate Qu Yuan, a great patriot and poet in China. According to legends, Qu Yuan was a wise courtier who devoted himself to political reforms and national revival, but he was unjustly accused. On the way of being exiled, Qu Yuan committed suicide by jumping into a river on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month to demonstrate his loyalty to the country and its people.

To commemorate Qu Yuan, people begin to hold dragon boat races on the Dragon Boat Festival. A dragon boat is a unique ancient water sport vessel shaped like a dragon, hence the name. The dragon boat race is not only a commemoration of Qu Yuan, but also a symbol of expelling evil forces and plagues.

In addition to the dragon boat race, the Dragon Boat Festival also has various colorful activities. The most famous one is eating rice dumplings, or zongzi. Zongzi is made by filling glutinous rice, beans, meat, and other fillings in reed or bamboo leaves. Whether sweet or savory, they have unique flavors and cultural significance. Eating zongzi can be said to be the most important tradition of the Dragon Boat Festival and it is a good way to bond with others.

Furthermore, we can also see colorful artemisia and calamus during this festival. Legend has it that after Qu Yuan’s suicide, fish and shrimp in the river fleed from his body, so people discovered that the fish groups climbed onto the river bank. At this time, people used herbs like Artemisia and Calamus at the door and inside the house to prevent misfortune.

On this special day, I hope that we can inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, deepen our understanding of and recognition for the Dragon Boat Festival. We should not only participate in the celebration activities, but also understand the historical origins and cultural connotations behind them. I believe that through learning and understanding, we can better demonstrate our love for our country and nation.
